InnoDisk announces the worlds smallest SATA SSD --SATADOM
InnoDisk Corporation, a leading industrial storage manufacturer in Taiwan, is introducing SATADOM, the smallest flash-based solid-state drive with the most unique and innovative functions. InnoDisk SATADOM, with a standard 7pin interface, can easily be installed to any SATA port without mechanical interference concern. Also, comparing with most SATA interface storage devices without circuit for supply voltage, InnoDisk SATADOM is designed with the internal VCC supply voltage design to solve this problem. SATADOM is an ideal and reliable storage solution for Industrial PC, Embedded System, Gaming Machine, POS, Medical Device, Automation System, and Networking Infrastructure. SATADOM is fully compatible with all major operating systems such as Windows XP, Linux, Win CE, DOS, and VxWorks.
Comparing with the once popular IDE/ATA interface in the market, the new SATA interface is gradually replacing IDE as the mainstream interface due to higher transfer speed and space consideration. The system board manufactures change to SATA interface based on the consideration of improving performance, reliability, saving space, and reducing the cost. This change of in technology leads InnoDisk to a new board design to support SATA SSD in the growing market.
However, we find the transformation process is not going well for two reasons. First, current system boards are mostly with IDE interface, and such designs not only use up much more space than SATA interface would, but also would cause the mechanical interference problems. Even the space occupied by SATA solution will save up to 70% with reducing the interface width from 58mm to 17mm; it will take time for the industry to adapt to SATA interface. Second, the current SATA solution requires for additional power cable which may not work well in some mobile or intense shocks and high vibration environment.
InnoDisk SATADOM is the worlds smallest SATA SSD! It measures only 20.5mm in length, 39mm in width, and 8mm in height; in terms of size, it is only about 10% of 2.5 inch SSD and 30% of 1.8 inch SSD. Using a SATA I interface and an industry standard SATA connector, InnoDisk SATADOM is easy to install into SATA port. For low profile system with height restriction, InnoDisk SATADOM horizontal design provides you another option. With the convertible horizontal-type design measured 10.3mm in height, 30mm in length, and 18mm in width, the space restriction and mechanical interference can be avoided completely. Remarkably, SATADOM is designed to have the internal VCC supply voltage without external cable to meet the requirement for a truly compact concept. Furthermore, with lock design on its connector to improve the connection, SATADOM meets the requirement for a high shock and vibration environment within lock design on its connector, SATADOM. This reliable SATADOM offers various capacities options ranging from 128MB to 8GB. Selecting the most cost-effective storage device based on different applications from various storage capacities is beneficial for system integrators.
InnoDisk SATADOM uses the most reliable memory, SLC (Single Level Cell) NAND flash; each block guarantees 100,000 program/erase cycles and the implementation of Wear Leveling Algorithm enhances the product lifespan greatly. The ECC function ensures the data integrity and reliability while SATADOM is operation. This ultra mini size SATA SSD is fully designed for harsh operating environment and is able to fulfill the demand for high performance and reliability. The SATADOM can provide the perfect solution for industrial applications and embedded systems.
InnoDisk Corporation designs, manufactures, and market industrial grade storage devices. The current product line includes: Industrial CF card, Embedded Disk Card (40pin/44pin) and Solid State Disk. InnoDisk is one of the industry leaders for its technical expertise.
